THE WAR CONTINUES

The War Continues begins in 1939 as the Civil War is ending, with the Nationalist forces victorious. Even as survivors confront the horrific debris of this war, World War II looms. For almost 40 years, Franco rules with a strong hand, yet right under his nose, often in his churches, the resistance grows. By the late 1960s a new war is raging between Basque separatists and the Spanish state. In the 1970s this war explodes, and Spain is blown apart. The reader has a front row seat for this epoch, while also receiving a tour of the treasures of Spanish art and culture.
